# Obtaining an API key
To obtain the API key, simply go to the [profile page](https://deepmode.com/profile) and scroll down to the "API Key" section, and click Generate.
Remember to keep your API key confidential and do not share it with anyone, as it serves as your unique identifier and is linked directly to your account, granting access to your sensitive data and settings.
After generating, you can delete an API key if you suspect it has been compromised, and generate a new one to replace it.
